By now, you've seen our Seifuku Shoulder Bag. Seifuku (制服) roughly translates to the uniform. It's a Japanese school uniform modeled after the European-styled naval uniforms that were what eventually replaced the traditional kimono during the late 19th century. The Japanese school uniform is modeled in appearance similar to that of the European-style naval uniforms and was first used in Japan in the late 19th century, replacing the traditional kimono. Today, students in Japan are often seen dressed in these uniforms. While it's popularized around the world as a female look, there is also a male version that looks just as cool!
These Seifuku uniforms are also often seen in Anime and Manga throughout the generations of many different genres. It generally is seen as a symbol of youth as many people wore it when in school. So when you see it in media, the character wear it is usually a younger female.
While in the past, these school uniforms were seen as a required outfit to wear to school, the style has already evolved into its own fashion style. Many add small customizations such as pins, keychains, backpack clips and more to personalize it to fit their personalities.
Is it intimidating to jump into the look? A good place to start is definitely the shoulder bag and customize it to your style and incorporate piece by piece.
